Subcontractor killed in Odessa College construction accident, investigation underway
ODESSA, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An investigation is underway after a subcontractor was killed in a workplace accident at an Odessa College construction project earlier this week. According to a joint statement from Odessa College and Cerris Builders, the accident happened on Tuesday, June 23. Officials said the incident involved a subcontractor working on the construction site and resulted in a fatality. "Our thoughts and sympathies are with the individual's family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time," the statement read. Following the incident, officials said the construction site was secured, and work has been suspended in the affected area. Odessa College, the contractor, and other parties involved stated that they are cooperating with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other appropriate authorities as they investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal accident. Because the investigation remains active, officials said they cannot provide additional details or comment further at this time.
