Crash involving semi closes part of I-70 on east side

INDIANAPOLIS – A crash involving a semi closed part of I-70 east of downtown Indianapolis. According to an alert from the Indiana Department of Transportation citing Indiana State Police, this happened around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday on westbound I-70 between I-465 and Shadeland Avenue (mile marker 88.8). Initially, three westbound lanes were closed due to a jackknifed semi that went into the median wall. Part of eastbound I-70 was also closed because of concrete in the road. About an hour later, an updated alert indicated eastbound I-70 had reopened while two left lanes of westbound I-70 remained closed. As of 6:15 a.m., the three left westbound lanes were closed and damage was reported to the top of bridge wall on the left shoulder. A bridge inspector has been assigned. Traffic in the area was slow and drivers should expect delays.
