Coroner identifies San Bernardino man killed in fiery I-5 crash near Highway 43
The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver killed after his vehicle veered off Interstate 5, became airborne, struck a concrete barrier, crashed into another wall, and caught fire as 36-year-old Andrian Ariza Nucup of San Bernardino. RELATED: CHP: Driver dies after car goes airborne off I-5, hit concert walls & burst into flames The California Highway Patrol said on June 25, 2026, at around 5:05 a.m., officers were called to reports of a solo-vehicle crash on Interstate 5, north of Highway 43. CHP said a preliminary investigation found that Nucup was driving a 2024 Subaru Impreza northbound on I-5 at an unknown speed. CHP said for reasons still under investigation, the driver veered into the dirt center median and struck a raised concrete barrier, causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle launched 150 feet, struck another concrete wall, and caught fire, according to CHP. Nucup died at the scene. CHP said it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.
