Child, 4, dies from injuries sustained in Long Island crash: police
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (PIX11) — A child has died from injuries sustained in a single-car crash on the Southern State Parkway, officials announced. The 4-year-old, identified by New York State Police as Christopher King-Morris, was declared dead on June 24 after a week in critical condition following the crash. On June 17, State Troopers responded to the area west of exit 20N in Hempstead after a 31-year-old woman lost control of her vehicle and struck a tree in the wooded area off the roadway, according to police. Authorities said she was trying to avoid an unknown black vehicle that did not stay at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and King-Morris was listed in critical condition. The investigation remains ongoing and authorities are working to identify the black vehicle and its driver. Anyone who witnessed the collision or may have additional information is asked to call the New York State Police at (631)756-3300.
