Authorities investigate hit-and-run crash that left woman dead near Marion/Hancock County Line
HANCOCK COUNTY, Ind. -- Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a Texas woman dead near the Hancock/Marion county line. On May 11, deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff's Department responded around 1:15 a.m. to the intersection of County Roads 300 North and 700 West after receiving reports that a woman had been fatally struck. Deputies arrived on the scene and discovered a woman lying on the roadway. HCSD said the woman was found with trauma on her body and was unresponsive with no pulse. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The victim was identified as 43-year-old Nikki Megale. She was originally from Texas but had been staying in Indianapolis temporarily, HCSD said. The fatality resulted in the closure of the roadway for around two and a half hours as authorities responded to the scene. The Greenfield Police Department, McCordsville Police Department, Indiana State Police,Hancock County Coroner’s Office, Hancock County 911 Center, and Buck CreekTownship Fire Department also assisted at the scene.
