Alexandria High student killed in rural crash late Friday

The Calhoun County coroner has identified the 16-year-old killed in a rural, single-vehicle crash late Friday as Jeremy "Ryan" Lambert, an Alexandria High School student and state champion wrestler.The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Lambert was driving a 2007 Jeep Cherokee around 10 p.m. when it left Vineyard Road near Lowimoore Road, about 6 miles east of Ohatchee. The SUV struck an embankment and overturned.Investigators noted Lambert was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.Lambert’s mother, April, is a teacher at Alexandria Elementary School, which shared the news of his passing in a heartfelt statement on Facebook.
