3 off-road vehicles involved in crash that left Romoland teen dead
The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash involving three off-road vehicles in the Inland Empire on Sunday night. According to a media release issued by CHP on Monday afternoon, units from the Riverside Station were dispatched to an area off Gunther Road in Romoland just after 7 p.m. on reports of a crash involving three vehicles, described as a 2024 Can-Am and two Yamaha ATVs. Preliminary investigation revealed that the Can-Am collided with both the ATVs, causing one of the ATV riders to be ejected and “collide with the roadway,” the CHP release states. That rider, identified as an 18-year-old male resident of Romoland, suffered fatal injuries was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. His name was not immediately released. There were no reports of any other injuries. Authorities are still working to figure out what caused the collision, although they say impairment is not suspected. Romoland is a census-designated place in Riverside County located between Perris and Menifee, the latter of which annexed some of Romoland when it became a city in 2008.
