2 hurt in rollover crash involving ambulance on Dan Ryan Expressway
CHICAGO (WGN) — A rollover crash involving an ambulance temporarily halted rush hour traffic on the Dan Ryan Expressway Tuesday afternoon, but the scene has since been cleared. The rollover crash hospitalized two people, though the severity of their injuries is unknown. Early information from Illinois State Police troopers indicated the crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 94 at 79th Street in Chicago. Lane closures lasted just under 20 minutes. The ambulance is privately owned and not affiliated with the Chicago Fire Department, ISP said. SkyCam9 flew above the scene, capturing images of the ambulance being towed away. A shattered windshield was visible. This is a developing story. Check back with WGN for updates.
