18-year-old found shot and killed after car hits parked car in Racine
An 18-year-old man was found dead with a gunshot wound inside a car that crashed into a parked vehicle near Racine Street and 20th Street on Wednesday morning, according to Racine police. Surveillance footage shows the black sedan slowly colliding with the parked car just before noon. Police arrived at the scene, taped off the street, and found the man in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to his torso. The woman who owns the parked car said she initially thought the crash was an accident, but realized something was wrong when she saw blood coming from the driver. “I am like something is not right, he's not responding to me,” she said. “That was when I get to seeing the blood, and I was like, oh no, I am on the phone with my mother. I am like mom, I gotta hang up, I gotta call 911, you know.” She described the man as “just taking his last breaths” and said, “that baby sat there and died alone.” Officials have not yet determined whether the victim was shot before or while driving. “It has been on my mind all day, you know, my condolences to his family. I don't know this kid, but I am just praying for his family,” the woman said. “I hope they find out what happened and, you know, get some justice,” the woman said.Racine police have not announced any arrests and are actively seeking information from the public about the incident.
