17-year-old killed after being ejected form off-highway vehicle in Garden City
GARDEN CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A 17-year-old is dead after an off-highway vehicle crash in Garden City. According to the Utah Division of Natural Resources (DNR), they received reports of an Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) crash in the parking lot of Heritage Park around 4:15 p.m. Four teenagers, all reportedly from California, were reportedly doing "donuts" in the parking lot, when the vehicle overturned. Unfortunately, a passenger who was sitting in the back was ejected. The passenger, identified as a 17-year-old female was not wearing a seatbelt or a helmet and, despite life-saving measures from responders, she died from her injuries. Reportedly, the Rich County Sheriff's Office, Rich County EMS, and the Garden City Fire District, along with Intermountain Health Lifeflight responded to the scene and provided assistance. "The Utah Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division offers its sympathies and condolences to family and friends during this difficult time," DNR stated, adding that the incident remains under investigation. Officials are also reminding the public to follow several safety tips while riding OHVs: No other information has been released at this time.
