Driver charged after crash causes New York State Police cruiser to burst into flames
A North Country driver involved in a fiery crash with two New York State Police troopers has been charged with driving under the influence.New York State Police said Michelle Donah, 41, of Saranac, crashed into the back of one of two NYSP cruisers that were slowing down along with traffic as they approached an intersection on State Route 374 and Rand Hill Road.The force of the crash caused the first police cruiser to strike the second cruiser from behind. One of those cruisers then caught fire.Both of the troopers, identified as Jacob Casey and Jakai Townsend, were treated for minor injuries.Donah was not injured. Police said she was exhibiting signs of impairment and failed Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Troopers later determined through additional testing that she was under the influence of drugs and alcohol.Donah is facing a charge of driving while ability impaired by drugs and alcohol and was issued several tickets. She was released and is due in court at a later date to answer the charge.
