17-year-old identified as motorcyclist killed in I-29 fiery crash involving semi
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) has identified a 17-year-old as the motorcyclist killed in a crash this week on Interstate 29. The crash was reported just after 4:10 p.m. Wednesday on southbound I-29 near NW 64th Street in the Northland. KCPD said the driver of the motorcycle was speeding on I-29, weaving in and out of traffic and "splitting lanes." A tractor-trailer pulling an unloaded flatbed trailer was also traveling southbound when the motorcycle struck the rear end of the trailer, throwing the motorcyclist from the vehicle, according to KCPD. Police said after the crash, the motorcycle caught on fire and was engulfed in flames. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified by police on Friday as 17-year-old Brody J. Schleuger, who would've turned 18 in August. According to his obituary, Schleuger was a student at Staley High School The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to police.
