10 students injured in Will County school bus accident; driver of other vehicle killed
In Will County, Illinois, a school bus carrying 10 students was involved in a collision on Thursday morning in Manhattan, resulting in the death of the sedan driver. Emergency responders are currently on site on Manhattan Monee Road. The Manhattan Fire Department reported that the accident occurred around 8:20 a.m. near the Manhattan Monee Road and Kankakee Road intersection, involving a sedan and a District 114 school bus. The bus sustained damage to the front end. Law enforcement shared that the sedan and school bus collided head-on, with the sedan suffering significant damage and the driver being pronounced dead at the scene. Manhattan Monee Road, between Schoolhouse and Cedar, will remain closed until further notice. The students and bus driver were taken to a hospital for evaluation, with no serious injuries reported and school officials assisting with the reunification process.
