Teen killed in overnight vehicle-pedestrian accident in Rogers: police
ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A teen was killed in an overnight vehicle-pedestrian crash in Rogers, according to police. The Rogers Police Department said around 10 p.m. on July 21, officers responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash in the area of North 2nd Street and West Hudson Road. The pedestrian, identified as a 17-year-old from Rogers, was taken to a nearby hospital, where they later died from their injuries. RPD said in a news release that neither the driver's nor the pedestrian's names will be released at this time. A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. Investigators have not found an indication that speed or driver impairment were contributing factors in the crash, according to the release. RPD's Traffic Unit will continue to investigate the crash, and the department noted that investigators are reviewing surveillance footage along with other evidence. This is a developing story.
