Fatal crash leaves 16-year-old dead in Ohio, 18-year-old driver seriously injured

CARROLL COUNTY, OH (WTRF) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday in Carroll County. The crash occurred around 11:51 a.m. on July 21 on County Road 52, also known as Caddy Road, north of County Road 520A in Orange Township. According to investigators, a 2007 Pontiac Torrent was traveling south on County Road 52 when it went off the right side of the road. The vehicle became airborne and struck a creek embankment. The driver, 18-year-old Gage Craig of Bowerston, Ohio, was taken to Mercy Hospital with serious injuries. A 16-year-old passenger from Carrollton, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office, Carroll County Coroner's Office, Dellroy Fire Department, Sherrodsville Fire Department, Leesville Fire Department, Bowerston Fire Department and Ruegg Brothers Towing.
