One injured in motorcycle race collision in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — One person is injured following a motorcycle accident. At around 11:50 p.m., the Wichita Falls Police Department (WFFD) responded to a motorcycle-on-vehicle accident on the 800 block of Central Freeway southbound. According to the Public Information Officer for the WFPD, Sgt. Jacob Vasquez, dispatch received a call regarding two motorcycles racing; one of them struck the back of the vehicle as they traveled southbound on Central Freeway. The rider of the motorcycle, later identified as Triston Pike, 22, was found incapacitated in the middle of the freeway when officers arrived at the scene, according to Sgt. Vasquez. Sgt. Vasquez said that Pike was then transported to the United Regional Emergency Room via ambulance for serious injuries. Later on, he was care-flown to the DFW area for further treatment related to his injuries, according to Sgt. Vasquez. Pike was riding a 2005 Triumph motorcycle. Sgt. Vasquez says Pike was reportedly racing another motorcycle at the time of the collision from behind with a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan. No injuries were reported to the occupants inside the Tiguan. Sgt. Vasquez said that charges are not expected to be filed in relation to this incident.
