Motorcyclist killed in crash involving another vehicle in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A motorcyclist was killed after a crash involving another vehicle in Chesterfield County on Saturday afternoon. On Saturday, July 25, at around 5 p.m., Chesterfield officers responded to Route 1 northbound near the Interstate 288 interchange. The preliminary investigation shows that the deadly crash included a motorcycle and another vehicle. Officials stated that the man operating the motorcycle sustained life-threatening injuries. Even though first responders provided life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until the next of kin is notified. Due to the investigation, Route 1's northbound and southbound lanes for the Interstate 288 interchange, along with the Interstate 288 westbound exit ramp to northbound Route 1, will be closed for the next four to six hours. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be assisting with traffic control, while motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and travel on alternate routes.
