1 transported after 4-vehicle wreck on I-79 in Monongalia County

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WBOY) — Emergency crews in Monongalia County are on the scene of a four-vehicle wreck on Interstate 79 that has shut down traffic and sent one person to the hospital. According to a release from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office, the wreck involved two commercial car haulers and two passenger vehicles. Deputies said that two of the vehicles being carried by the haulers dislodged and blocked the roadway. One person was taken to the hospital by Mon EMS for minor injuries, the release said. No other injuries were reported. Deputies said that southbound traffic is heavily congested as of 12:08 p.m., but the road is expected to reopen shortly. The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by the West Virginia State Police, West Virginia Division of Highways, Mon EMS, and the Clinton District, Triune-Halleck and Winfield fire departments.
