Head-on collision kills passenger in Allendale Co., woman charged with DUI
Editor's Note: This article has been corrected to state that the passenger of the Mercedes, not the Jeep, died in the accident. ALLENDALE COUNTY, S.C. (WJBF) - One person is dead after a head-on collision in Allendale County. According to South Carolina High Patrol (SCHP) the crash occurred on June 7th at 4:45 pm on Highway 301, near the Georgia state line. Authorities say a Mercedes SUV and Jeep SUV were traveling opposite directions on that highway when the driver of the Mercedes attempted to pass another in a no passing zone and hit the Jeep head on. The passenger in the Mercedes died, everyone else involved in the crash were sent to the hospital. Law enforcement arrested and charged 32-year-old Saundra Lee Chiefstick-Grover with Felony DUI w/Death and Felony DUI W/Great Bodily Injury. Chiefstick-Grover remains in the Allendale County Detention Center.
