1 killed, 2 hurt in Marion County crash, FHP says
A crash involving two vehicles Friday in Marion County killed a man and left two other people hurt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on County Road 464, west of SE 51st Avenue, troopers said. According to an FHP crash report, a pickup truck was traveling west on C.R. 464 while an SUV traveled east. The 67-year-old Ocala man driving the pickup truck failed to keep it in its proper lane and it ran off the roadway right, striking a traffic sign and continuing north off road into two separate ditches, the report states. The pickup truck then re-entered westbound C.R. 464, ran off the roadway left, and entered the eastbound lanes, where its front right side struck the front left side of the SUV, troopers said. The truck went on to run off the roadway left, where it struck a fence and a tree, the report states. The man driving the pickup truck suffered fatal injuries, while his passenger — a 52-year-old Ocala woman — suffered serious injuries, troopers said. The 59-year-old Ocala man driving the SUV suffered minor injuries in the crash, according to FHP.
