1 dead after rollover crash on 605 Freeway in Cerritos

A person died after a rollover crash on the 605 Freeway in Cerritos early Tuesday morning.   Preliminary information from the California Highway Patrol incident log indicates that the crash occurred on the southbound span of the 605 at Alondra Boulevard just after 3:50 a.m.  At least one person was confirmed deceased, although it was not known whether they were pronounced dead at the scene or taken to a hospital where they later passed away. No word on the decedent's identity was available right away. Video from the scene shows the car, a white sedan, ended up completely overturned off the side of the freeway.   According to CHP, all southbound lanes were initially shut down in the wake of the crash, which appeared to only involve the one vehicle, but they were reopened by about 6:30 a.m.  In addition, the southbound entrance ramp from Alondra Boulevard to the 605 was also closed for the crash investigation.   It is not known what caused the collision or whether speed or impairment were factors.
