1 dead after late-night rollover crash in north Amarillo
A late-night rollover crash near St. Francis Avenue and Irwin Road left one driver dead on Saturday. Amarillo police said officers were dispatched on July 11 around 10:12 p.m. to the area of St. Francis Avenue and Irwin Road on a report of a traffic crash. Investigators say a Dodge pickup truck was traveling westbound on St. Francis Avenue when it struck the rear of a Toyota sedan. The Dodge continued westbound, left the roadway and rolled multiple times. The driver of the Dodge was pronounced dead at the scene. The impact of the crash caused the Toyota to leave the roadway. Police said the driver’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The crash remains under investigation by the Amarillo Police Department Traffic Investigation Unit.
