1 dead, 5 injured after Tesla crashes into Southern California shopping center

One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a white Tesla crashed into a cafe at a Target shopping center at 51 Tierra Rejada Road in Simi Valley Monday. Firefighters responded to the crash around 2:30 p.m. and found six victims, Ventura County Fire Department spokesperson told KTLA. Four of those people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries. One was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash appears to have happened at Urbane Cafe, a restaurant with outdoor seating. Authorities said the female driver of the Tesla lost control and veered into a curb, hitting and killing a woman. The car continued driving into the planters outside the cafe, coming to a rest in the middle of the outdoor dining area filled with umbrellas and tables. It’s unclear at this time if any arrests have been made in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Simi Valley Police Department.
