Worker dies in excavator accident at Rockwall County construction site, deputies say
A 52-year-old construction worker died Monday in an excavator accident at a Rockwall County work site, authorities said. William Werner, of Kaufman, was working at a construction site near the intersection of Costa Verde Drive and Torrente Drive in McLendon-Chisholm when he died, according to a release from the Rockwall County sheriff's office. Deputies found Werner unresponsive at the site and learned he had been run over by an excavator. He was pronounced dead at the site, deputies said. Werner was employed by a utility contractor working on a sewer installation project at the time of his death, according to McLendon-Chisholm Fire Rescue. The incident is under investigation by the Rockwall County sheriff’s office and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to deputies.
