Two injured in motorcycle crash on I-35 near Ankeny

ANKENY, Iowa -- Authorities say two people were injured Saturday during a motorcycle crash on Interstate 35 in Ankeny. The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred around 3 p.m. along Interstate 35, at mile marker 92. Authorities say a Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling in the southbound lanes when the rear tire blew out, causing the driver to lose control and slide to the outside shoulder of the roadway. ISP says the bike's driver, 37-year-old Brian Christopher Geary, and the passenger, 39-year-old Ashley Nicole Thompson, were both transported to an area hospital by Ankeny EMS. Both Geary and Thompson are from Kansas City, Missouri. The Iowa DOT reports the crash caused up to 20-minute delays along the interstate as crews responded to the scene. The scene was cleared just under an hour after the crash occurred.
