Woman killed in second fatal crash on State Highway 302 in Winkler County
WINKLER COUNTY — A second fatal crash along a state highway has left a woman dead, shortly after a multi-vehicle collision that killed one person and injured four others. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the second collision occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 25, along State Highway 302 at mile marker 236. DPS stated that Linnie Mabry Holley, 77, of Iraan, was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Keri Jones. Holley was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Preliminary information from the DPS report indicates a 1996 Peterbilt with a towed trailer was traveling westbound on SH 302, followed by a 2020 Kia Rio. The Peterbilt tractor-trailer was stopped in traffic due to a previous crash. DPS stated that the driver of the Kia failed to control her speed and struck the Peterbilt from the rear. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information has been released.
