Woman killed in crash after carjacking in Mattapan, police say
A woman is dead and a man is in custody following a motor vehicle crash and subsequent carjacking in Boston, Massachusetts, on Saturday afternoon.According to Boston police, officers responded to the 1600 block of Blue Hill Avenue in Mattapan for a report of a pedestrian hit by a car around 2 p.m.The pedestrian, a woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is not being released at this time.Investigators said a man who was involved in a car crash at Woodhaven and Blue Hill Avenue stole another vehicle and drove south on Blue Hill Avenue.The man in the stolen car then struck the victim at Fairway Street and Blue Hill Avenue, according to police.Several vehicles, including an MBTA bus, were also damaged.Traffic in the area remains closed off to motorists and drivers are asked to seek alternate routes.Police have not yet released the identity of the suspect, who they said is in custody.No further information was immediately available.
