Woman from Carlisle Township sentenced to 5 years in prison for fleeing deadly crash in Lorain (UPDATED)
A judge in Lorain County sentenced Lynda Wright to five years in prison for leaving the site of a fatal traffic accident and attempting to hide evidence of the incident. Judge Giovanna Bremke handed down the sentence to Wright, a 54-year-old from Carlisle Township, for causing the death of Luis Wheeler, 50, from Grafton, by fleeing the scene and then trying to cover it up by repairing her damaged vehicle. Wright had pleaded guilty to charges of not stopping after the accident and tampering with evidence, in addition to vehicular homicide. The judge mentioned that it was distressing that as a nurse, Wright did not stop to help Wheeler after the collision. She expressed deep regret in court and apologized to Wheeler's family. The Lorain County Coroner's Office confirmed that Wheeler died from the impact of being hit by Wright's car. Wright was immediately taken into custody following the judge's decision, and her request for a delay in reporting to jail was denied.
