Woman from Carlisle Township receives 5-year prison sentence for fleeing deadly crash in Lorain.

Lynda Wright, a 54-year-old nurse from Carlisle Township, was sentenced to a five-year prison term by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Giovanna Bremke for her involvement in a fatal hit-and-run accident on Cooper Foster Park Road in Lorain. The incident occurred in February when Wright struck and killed pedestrian Luis Wheeler, 50, of Grafton, with her car. Despite pleading guilty to charges of failure to stop after an accident, tampering with evidence, and misdemeanor vehicular homicide, Wright provided conflicting stories regarding the incident. The prosecutor's office mentioned that Wright left the scene but her car's parts helped in identifying her. While there was no evidence of her being under the influence or hitting Wheeler intentionally, authorities highlighted that Wheeler may have survived if Wright had stopped to seek help. This remains an ongoing story, and updates can be found on The Chronicle-Telegram.
