Woman dies after car goes airborne, crashes into oncoming vehicle in Ottawa County
OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio (WJW) -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash Saturday morning along State Route 2 involving two vehicles. According to a Saturday afternoon news release, troopers responded to the crash near mile marker 122 in Portage Township around 9:15 a.m. on March 21. According to authorities, 78-year-old Margaret Lenthe of Lakeside Marblehead, Ohio was heading west on SR 2 when her car went off the left side of the road and hit the raised median. The impact sent her car airborne into the eastbound lanes where it collided with an oncoming vehicle. Lenthe, who troopers said was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the eastbound vehicle, 56-year-old Raymond Roberts of Michigan, and his passenger received minor injuries, the news release said. At the time the crash remains under investigation.
