Woman accused of DUI, speeding from Liberty Tunnel at 90 mph before fatal bridge crash

Homicide charges have been filed against a 23-year-old woman in connection with a fatal crash on the Liberty Bridge in March. Madison Elizabeth Rau is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle after the crash that killed 28-year-old Jaren Wilkerson and Laila Jones. According to the criminal complaint, Rau exited the Liberty Tunnel at a speed of more than 90 miles per hour. Pittsburgh Public Safety said that when police arrived on the scene, they found a collision involving three vehicles — one of those vehicles was engulfed in flames.Laila Jones, Madison Rau, and Wilkerson were pinned inside. Jones died on the scene; Rau and Wilkerson were transported to the hospital where Wilkerson was later pronounced dead. Police said Rau was also driving under the influence.We spoke to family and friends of Wilkerson following his death. They described the 28-year-old as a gravitational spirit and as someone as unforgettable. "He'd give you the shirt off his back," added friend Shawn Hendricks."That's how we want him to be remembered.
