Woman killed after being struck by car in Encinitas
ENCINITAS, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — A woman was killed Friday evening after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing a roadway in Encinitas, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office. Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian at around 7:16 p.m. in the 2700 block of El Camino Del Norte. According to preliminary investigators, a man driving a 2025 Nissan Z was traveling westbound on El Camino Del Norte when his vehicle collided with a woman who was crossing the street. The pedestrian suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released her identity or age. The driver remained at the scene and was not injured in the collision, sheriff's officials said. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation, though the use of alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor.
