Waterbury resident, 18, killed, five injured in early morning crash, police say
WATERBURY — One person is dead and five others are injured following a Chase Avenue collision overnight, police said. The victim that was killed in the crash was identified as 18-year-old Luis Cisneros Fletes, of Waterbury, city police Sgt. Joseph Morais said. Morais said officers responded to the two-car crash involving a Subaru and Mazda in the 90 block around 12:50 a.m. Sunday. He said both cars sustained heavy, disabling damage. The driver and two occupants of the Subaru were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Morais said. Morais said the driver of the Mazda sustained life-threatening injuries and is in critical condition following the crash. Morais said Fletes was one of the Mazda's passengers, and the other passenger inside was injured and listed in stable condition. The crash is being investigated by the department's Crash Reconstruction Unit, Morais said.
