Victim of fatal I-215 crash identified by police
TAYLORSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — Police have identified the individual killed after being struck by a semi-truck while their car was stopped on I-215. On July 20th, a Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on I-215, near Redwood Road in Taylorsville. While traveling, the vehicle's hood became unlatched and flipped up. The driver stopped the vehicle between two of the lanes and was struck by a semi-truck traveling behind them, who was unable to stop. The driver of the Elantra was injured during the collision and died as a result of those injuries. Department of Public Safety (DPS) has now identified the Elantra driver as 28-year-old Lovine Aiulu Saili. At this time, officials have not released the driver's gender. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured. However, several lanes were closed on I-215 for approximately four hours as they investigated the crash scene.
