VFD: Six individuals hurt in major accident in Allegheny County
A serious crash occurred in Allegheny County early Sunday morning, resulting in six individuals being hospitalized. The North Fayette Township VFD responded to the crash on Mahoney Road at Redwood Estates after 3 a.m. According to a Facebook post from the department, the crash involved a truck with significant damage to the front and passenger side doors. Airbags had deployed as well. Three occupants were discovered 50 feet down a hillside, appearing to have been ejected from the vehicle due to the impact of the crash. One injured individual was able to walk, while two others remained trapped inside the damaged vehicle. Additional EMS and fire teams were called for support. Crews used a rope system to safely rescue the individuals found on the hillside. All six were transported to the hospital, with some airlifted and others taken by ambulance.
