Vehicle fire spreads to vegetation near Cottonwood
Cal Fire crews responded to a vehicle fire that spread to vegetation off Sunset Hills Drive near Cottonwood on Wednesday afternoon. According to Cal Fire’s Tehama-Glenn Unit, the fire was last reported to be burning a quarter-acre off Sunset Hills Drive near Interstate 5. California Highway Patrol (CHP) logs show the vehicle fire was first reported around 1:25 p.m. The logs indicate the vehicle went into a ditch and caught fire. One person was reported to be out of the vehicle. The southbound off-ramp to Sunset Hills Drive was closed because fire equipment was blocking the area, according to CHP logs. The vehicle was reported to be about 40 feet down an embankment and fully burned. This is a developing story.
