Utah juvenile hospitalized in five-vehicle crash near Grand Teton National Park

FREMONT COUNTY, Idaho (ABC4) — A five-vehicle crash near Grand Teton National Park hospitalized a juvenile from Salt Lake City on Wednesday afternoon. According to an Idaho State Police press release, the crash occurred on US-20 milepost 367.2 just north of Ashton. The incident took place near the site of a two-vehicle accident that the Fremont County Sheriff's Office was already investigating. At approximately 12:20 p.m., a Dodge Ram pulling an RV trailer driven by a 43-year-old Clinton, Utah, man came upon the crash and moved into the eastbound passing lane to give the deputy space. Meanwhile, a Honda Odyssey with at least two occupants from Salt Lake City, including a 27-year-old driver and a juvenile, was traveling westbound and slowed down. A Tesla Model 3, driven by a 20-year-old Idaho Falls woman, was unable to slow down and rear-ended the Honda. A GMC Sierra pulling a flatbed trailer, driven by a 56-year-old St. Anthony, Idaho, man, also moved into the eastbound passing lane, sideswiping the Honda and Tesla. The Tesla reportedly rotated clockwise until it was perpendicular in the westbound lane. A 71-year-old Lawrence, Kansas, man was driving a Subaru Ascent and tried to avoid colliding with the Tesla by swerving into the passing lane and instead struck the Dodge. The only reported injury was to the juvenile in the Honda, who was rushed to the hospital but was later released. The roads were blocked for approximately three and a half hours, and the accident is under investigation by state police.
