UPDATED: Parts of I-39 to remain closed until 1 p.m. due to collision
UPDATED (11:20 a.m.) -- Southbound lanes of Interstate 39 remained closed due to a traffic collision and will be until 1 p.m. That's the word from Woodford County's Chief Deputy Sheriff Dennis Tipsword, who said one northbound lane of the interstate is also closed. It too will remain closed until 1 p.m., he said. It was a two-vehicle collision in which one vehicle had two people inside; the other had only the driver, he said. Two people were taken to an area hospital by helicopter. Another was brought to a hospital by ambulance, Tipsword said. This story will be updated. MINONK, Ill. (WMBD) -- Southbound lanes of Interstate 39 south of Minonk are blocked due to a multiple-vehicle wreck, according to the Woodford County Sheriff's Office. Dennis Tipsword, the office's chief deputy, said the collisions occurred four miles south of Minonk at mile marker 22. There was no word on injuries or how many vehicles were involved.
