Car crashes into Wilmington home, ends up standing vertically on porch

A dramatic crash in Wilmington early Sunday morning left a vehicle resting nearly upright against a home's front porch after it struck a utility pole, a parked car and multiple fences, authorities said. The crash occurred around 3:45 a.m. in the 1000 block of Pacific Coast Highway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said the vehicle was traveling westbound on PCH when it swerved left and struck a city electrical pole and a parked vehicle. It then continued forward and crashed into a fence before overturning into a second fence. Video from the scene shows the heavily damaged vehicle standing nearly vertical against the porch area of a residence, with debris scattered across the property. The homeowners were inside at the time of the crash, according to stringer information, and, though they declined to be on camera, they told reporters they heard a loud bang when the collision occurred. A nearby witness said the vehicle appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash. "She went in between the parked car and the light pole," said the witness named Michael. "It was going pretty fast. I've seen a lot of crashes. This one was pretty unusual." Despite the dramatic scene, no injuries were reported and no arrests were made, according to LAPD. Department of Water and Power crews responded to the scene due to damage to an electrical pole. Police said speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
