One killed in fiery Mountain Brook crash

A driver died Tuesday night after a vehicle crashed into a tree and caught fire in Mountain Brook, according to the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. The crash happened around 10:37 p.m. in the 4200 block of Old Leeds Road. The Coroner says an unidentified adult white male was driving the vehicle and was the only occupant inside when it left the roadway and collided with a tree. The impact caused the vehicle to become engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:44 p.m. The Mountain Brook Police Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
