UC Davis student killed in car-bicycle crash near campus, officials say
(FOX40.COM) — A UC Davis student has died after a collision involving a car and a bicycle near campus, university officials said Tuesday. The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. Monday on Hutchison Drive near the West Village housing area, according to a statement from the University of California, Davis. The student was taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead, UC Davis officials said. The UC Davis Police Department Major Accident Investigation Team is leading the investigation in coordination with other agencies. No additional details about the collision were immediately released. University officials said they are not releasing the student’s name out of respect for the family. “Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends and all who are affected by this tragic loss,” the university said in a statement. UC Davis officials stated that the campus is following its postvention guidelines, which include outreach, coordination and support services for students affected by the sudden death.
