Two vehicles collide while passing line of traffic in Raymond
RAYMOND, Maine (WGME) -- Two drivers have been injured after deputies say they both tried to pass a line of traffic in Raymond and hit one another in the process. The two-vehicle crash happened on North Raymond Road around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says a Nissan Rouge driven by a Lewiston woman and a Honda Accord driven by a Portland juvenile both tried to pass a line of traffic in a marked no passing zone. Also read: School bus involved in multi-vehicle crash in Sanford According to deputies, the driver of the Nissan went into the oncoming lane to pass traffic, but the Honda was already in the lane doing the same thing, causing the vehicles to collide and the Honda to overturn. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Deputies say the juvenile driver was charged with imprudent speed. It is unclear at this if the Lewiston woman will also be charged. The crash remains under investigation.
