Two hospitalized, one critically injured after crash on Hwy 544 bridge
Two people are being taken to the hospital, including one with critical injuries, after a two-vehicle crash on the Highway 544 bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway. Horry County Fire Rescue (HCFR) was dispatched to the crash at 11:45 a.m. Officials said lanes of traffic are currently blocked as emergency crews respond. HCFR crews deployed extrication operations to remove a person trapped in the crash. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Horry County Police Department is also assisting. Drivers are asked to avoid the Highway 544 bridge to prevent delays and protect emergency crews working at the scene.
