Winston-Salem tractor-trailer driver charged after fatal crash in Virginia, police say

SUSSEX COUNTY, Va. (WGHP) -- A Winston-Salem man faces multiple charges after a fatal crash in Virginia earlier this month, according to Virginia state police. Thurman Taylor has been charged with involuntary manslaughter, unlawful wounding and failure to move over. Police say Taylor was driving a tractor-trailer on Route 460 on July 1 when he hit a Virginia Department of Transportation truck in the right lane, veered left, over-corrected and hit a second VDOT vehicle. The second VDOT vehicle was pushed into a ditch. Police say Taylor then hit an embankment and a third VDOT vehicle. Two employees working outside the vehicle were hurt. One of the workers died from their injuries in the hospital.
