2 killed in rural Marshall County motorcycle crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Iowa -- Two people were killed in a motorcycle crash in Marshall County late Sunday night. Just after 9 p.m., the Marshall County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a motorcycle crash in the 1300 block of 295th Street in Rhodes. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a man and a woman unresponsive off the roadway, several yards from the motorcycle. The sheriff's office said the man, identified as 31-year-old Brandon Overman, was driving the motorcycle and died from his injuries at the scene. Overman's passenger, 27-year-old Chandler Kendall, was transported to a Des Moines hospital via air ambulance, where she later died. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, Overman was traveling eastbound on 295th Street and attempted to pass a vehicle in a no-passing zone when he failed to negotiate a curve, lost control of the motorcycle, and then slid into the ditch.
