Truck driver jailed for fatal Tusky Valley bus crash now released

A truck driver from Licking County, Ohio, who was involved in a tragic crash that claimed the lives of six individuals, including students and chaperones from Tuscarawas Valley Middle-High School, has been released from jail after completing his sentence. Jacob McDonald was convicted of vehicular homicide for his role in a fiery crash on Interstate 70 in November of 2023. The incident, which also involved a charter bus and other vehicles, resulted in the deaths of three students from the school's marching band and three chaperones. McDonald was sentenced to a total of 180 days in prison for each of the six misdemeanor counts of vehicular homicide he was found guilty of. With credit for time served, he spent just over 217 days in jail.
