Train collision in Montclair injures 17, officials report
More than a dozen individuals were harmed in a recent NJ Transit train accident in Montclair, New Jersey. The incident took place around 6:45 p.m. when two trains on the Montclair-Boonton Line collided near the Bay Street station. As a result, one train car derailed, causing injuries to 17 people that were described as not life-threatening. Photo evidence displayed the extent of the harm done to one of the trains, showing a section of the metal structure caved in. Passenger Shaun Barrett recounted the abrupt impact of the collision, likening it to a car crash. The reason behind the accident is currently unknown, and investigations are underway by the New Jersey Transit Police Department and the National Transportation Safety Board. Safety of passengers, employees, and first responders remains the top priority, stated an NJ Transit representative, as rail service on the Montclair-Boonton Line was temporarily halted with NJ Transit bus services honoring rail tickets and passes.
