Tragic Fatal Car Crash Claims Life in Clay County

Early on Monday morning, a tragic accident occurred in Clay County, resulting in the loss of one life. The incident, a single-vehicle crash, occurred on FM 174, about 2.5 miles east of Windthorst, as reported by Texas DPS Sergeant Juan Gutierrez. The initial findings of the crash investigation discovered that Robert Vernon Geis, aged 62 from Archer City, was driving west on FM 174 when he veered out of his lane, causing the vehicle's front right wheel to detach after scraping against a guardrail. Subsequently, the vehicle traveled for about a mile, skidding sideways, rolling multiple times, hitting a fence, and finally coming to a stop. Geis was taken to United Regional, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. The crash is currently being looked into by authorities.
