Three-vehicle crash involving police car under investigation in Newport News
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- The Newport News Police Department is investigating a three-vehicle crash involving an unmarked police vehicle on Monday afternoon. Officers responded to the area of Jefferson Avenue and J. Clyde Morris Boulevard around 4:45 p.m. in reference to a multi-vehicle accident. A preliminary investigation determined that an unmarked police vehicle was struck when a Honda veered into its lane as the two were headed northbound on Jefferson Avenue. Following the initial collision, the Honda veered into another lane and struck a Ford pickup truck. The driver of the Honda was taken to a local hospital for medical evaluation. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
