Shooting, crash investigation shuts down portion of I-80/94 in Hammond
HAMMOND, Ind. — Drivers are facing some backups on Tuesday morning after a shooting investigation shut down a portion of I-80/94 in northwest Indiana. According to the Indiana State Police, troopers are investigating a shooting and crash that unfolded along the eastbound lanes of I-80/94, near Calumet Avenue, in Hammond. While details surrounding the incident are currently unclear, troopers said a victim crashed into a semi as a result of the shooting. Because of the investigation, troopers have shut down the eastbound lanes of I-80/94 near Calumet Avenue. Troopers did not say how long the closure would remain in place. Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting, and an investigation is ongoing. Troopers said more information about the crash is expected to be released on Tuesday afternoon.
